He was born 6 November 1841 in Wilson County, TN. 

He enlisted 20 May 1861 in White County, TN. 

Wounded at Battle of Perryville (Chaplin Hills), 8 October, when he was part of the Colour Guard.  His wrist was shattered and was left behind at Harrodsburg.

He managed to rejoined the Regiment on the 18 March 1863.

Captured near Calhoun, GA,  17 May 1864 and was sent to Alton, IL. Subsequently sent to Point Lookout MD. for exchange 17 February 1865.

He up and walked away from the war on at Richmond, VA, 4 March 1865 and was released on taking the Oath at Knoxville 31 March 1865.

He lived in Nashville, TN, for some time after the war.

He married Mary Reynolds? and had two sons in Texas and two daughters in Nashville, and his wife died in 22 March 1904.

Filed for a Pension, number #14436, dated 25 June 1914, which was accepted.
