Captain William G. Etter
He was born on 21 August 1841, near Irving College, TN, and was the son of H. R. and Jane Etter, the third of ten children.
He enlisted in the Regiment on the 18 May 1861.
He was elected to the post of 1st Lieutenant on the 11 May 1862.
Elected Captain 8 May 1862, but he later resigned this post and went back to the ranks.
Was slightly wounded at Perryville (Chaplin Hills), 8 October 1862, and again Chickamauga, 19-20 September 1863, and once again at Adairsville, 17 May 1864.
He surrendered at Greensboro, N. C.
After the war he was a merchant and farmer.
He married Charlotte Hill on 19 December 1867. She was the daughter of J. W. and Mary Hill, She was born 1 October 1843 and died 19 September 1876. They had four children: E. Bruce, Lemma, Charlotte B. and Mary J., Etter.
He married his second wife Electra Carlie Meadows on the 17 February 1880. She was the daughter of William Morris and Sarah J. (Moffitt) Meadows, she born in Warren Co, TN, 27 September 1854 and died 12 March 1932. Was educated at Burritt College. They had two children: Cecil and Alda Etter.
