Private William Henderson
He was born 9 June 1844 in Warren Co, TN, the son of Phillip and Margaret or Martha (Carson) Hughes.
At one time the family was living in Beersheba Springs area in the 1860s.
He enlisted in the Regiment on 18 May1861 at Camp Trousdale, TN, and was discharged Grahan, SC, he re-enlisted on the 20 November 1862, soon after his two brothers had joined.
He was slightly wounded at the Battle of Murfreesboro (Stones River), TN, 31 December 1862.
On the 25 November 1863 he was captured at Ringgold, GA, and sent to Rock Island, IL, from 18 December 1863 until 15 October 1864 , where he took the oath on 25 October 1864.
After the war he ran a portable saw mill until unable to do so and was also a bar keeper.
He was to end up in Louisville (Jeffersontown), KY, where he met and married Julia Catherine Yeager on the 9 February 1871. She was born 16 March 1851 Jeffersontown, KY, the daughter of George W. and Mary Malvina Yeager. She died in 1936. They had four children Gertrude, Katie, Willie Percy and George Clifton Hughes.
He died 26 March 1919 in Louisville (Jeffersontown), Jefferson Co, KY. He is buried in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Jefferson Co, KY.
Pension applied for, no. #2975, and granted 12 June 1912. His widow applied on the 14 June 1919, no. #3919, which was granted.
